Psalm 27: 1&14 KJV Mrs. Barbara Ann Keith Evans, the daughter of Allen and Addie Spears Keith, was born December 29, 1940, in Pamplico, South Carolina. Barbara's earthly life came to a quiet and peaceful end on Monday, February 13, 2012. She left those whose lives she touched so much richer with her wisdom, loving personality and beautiful smile. During her illness she never gave in, but always praised God and gave Him the Glory. Barbara attended the public schools of Florence County and was a 1958 graduate of Gibbs High School. While in Philadelphia, she worked as a counselor with a Youth Group Home and in South Carolina, was employed by Florence School District One until her retirement. At an early age Barbara was converted and joined Mill Branch African Methodist Episcopal Church. As a young woman, Barbara moved to Philadelphia, PA and was under Watch Care at Saint Matthews African Methodist Episcopal Church. She took an active part in several organizations while at St. Matthews. Upon returning to South Carolina, she reunited with Mill Branch where she served as Quarterly Conference Secretary, Church School Secretary, member of the Senior Choir, Women's Missionary Society, Stewardess Board and the Helping Hands Club. Barbara was united in marriage to Leslie D. Evans, Jr. To this union one daughter was born. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Leslie; and a brother, Mallie "Brother" Keith. Barbara is survived by the loves of her life: her daughter and grandson, Tammy and Jordan Thompson; two sisters, Mrs. Van Dora (John) Myers of Aberdeen, MD and Mrs. Betty Battle of Philadelphia, PA; one brother, Mr. Bruce (Judy) Keith of Columbia, SC; four aunts, Mrs. Janette Grant and Mrs. Hester Cain of Philadelphia, PA; Mrs. Emma Miller and Mrs. Ida Mae James of Florence, SC; one uncle, Mr. Wade Spears of Baltimore, MD; sister-in-law, Mrs. Trever Keith of Florence, SC; two god sons, Mr. Anthony Sellers of Riverdale, GA and Mr. Troy Hunt of Camden, NJ; a loving and caring friend, Mr. Sam James, of Washington, DC; devoted friend and caregiver, Mrs. Maxine Moore of Pamplico, SC; best friends, Mrs. Bertha Sellers of Florence, SC and Mrs. Eleanor Bordley, of Dover, DE; seven nieces; five nephews; and a host of caring friends, relatives, church family and neighbors.
